[ About the project ]

Spotify set out to redefine fan engagement in the Web3 era, looking for ways to deepen brand love, loyalty, and cultural relevance, particularly among Gen Z audiences. As the platform evolved from a one-way broadcaster to an interactive ecosystem, the brand saw an opportunity to expand beyond streaming and into fandom-driven digital experiences.

[ Our Challenge ]

With Web3 opening new doors for fan participation, digital ownership, and immersive interactions, Spotify needed a clear, strategic approach to integrate emerging technologies into their ecosystem while staying true to their core brand values.

[ Our Solution ]

We developed a clear and actionable Web3 strategy that positioned Spotify as the platform that rewards fandom. Our approach focused on three key areas:


Rewards & Digital Ownership

  • Designed a system where fan actions unlocked rewards, from digital collectibles to exclusive access keys (Tokens).
  • Created a framework for NFT-powered loyalty programs that extended beyond Wrapped and Day 1 Club, giving top fans meaningful incentives. 


Gated Access & Community Experiences

  • Introduced Fan Pass, providing exclusive entry to artist content, experiences, and gated communities.
  • Developed Rooms, private spaces where superfans could connect with artists and each other, deepening the social aspect of fandom.


Creative Expression & Virtual Identity

  • Built Flight Case, a digital space for fans to showcase their passion through collectibles and avatar-based interactions.
  • Explored opportunities for Web3 integration in gaming, extending Spotify’s presence beyond music into virtual worlds like Roblox.
